ASTON, PA- The Cairn women's soccer team kept up their solid play against Neumann University in yesterday's match, but eventually fell to the Knights by a score of 2-0.
 
The Highlanders struggled in the early stages of the match as Neumann was able to put a lot of pressure on the Kelsey Lewis led backline. Cairn conceded two quick goals in a ten minute span early in the first half that sprung the Knights in the lead. The Highlanders, who have been solid defensively in recent weeks, were able to buckle down over the rest of the half and keep the Knights off the board. Cairn managed 3 shots in the first half to Neumann's 14.
 
The Highlanders acquitted themselves much better in the second half as they shut out the Knights for the entire 45 minutes and also put a good amount of pressure on the Knights goal with 5 shots. The Highlanders were led by Courtney Novak and Katie Ruitto who each tallied 2 shots, while keeper Mackenzie Paugh had another excellent performance with 11 saves.
 
Cairn has two games next week as they host Notre Dame (MD) University Tuesday at 3:30 PM and are away at Keystone College Saturday at 1:00 PM.
