Rosemont, PA – The Rosemont men's basketball team used a 22-3 first-half run to turn an early 7-2 deficit into a 12-point lead. After taking a 22-10 lead the Ravens never looked back and cruised to a 93-70 final.
The Highlanders struggled with Rosemont's pressure for a majority of the contest, but the Ravens capitalized on Cairn mistakes in the first-half to build a 53-29 lead at half-time. Rosemont pushed that lead to as many as 27 points in the second-half en route to the 93-70 victory.
Gerroid Doughty II led the Highlanders with a season-high 28 points on a 10-16 effort from the field, including a 4-5 mark from downtown. Doughty also grabbed eight rebounds.
Jeremiah Harris went for double-digit points for the fourth-straight game and collected his first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
As mentioned the Highlanders jumped out to and early 7-2 lead with a pair of layups from
JD Zamroz and
Zachary Dolton before Zamroz hit a three to get the Highlanders off on the right foot. Unfortunately for Cairn fans, the Ravens responded with their massive 22-3 run to put some distance between themselves and the visitors. Doughty ended the run with a three, but the damage was done. The Ravens had grown their lead to double-digits.
Cairn briefly cut the lead to single-digits when
Jeremiah Harris put a layup through with nine-minutes remaining in the half. The Ravens responded with a 7-0 run to push the lead to 31-15 and the Highlanders could not get the lead back to single-digits the rest of the game.
Rosemont led 53-29 at the half and held a lead of at least 17 points for the rest of the contest.
Gerroid Doughty II had a fantastic second-half for the Highlanders with 20 points in the final 20 minutes.
After tonight's contest, the Highlanders fall to 3-14 overall and 1-10 in the CSAC. They will next take the floor against Clarks Summit on Saturday when they hit the road to take on the Defenders at 3:00 p.m.
