Langhorne, PA - The Penn State - Harrisburg Nittany Lions took down the Cairn Highlanders' women's volleyball team on Saturday morning 3-0 (25-8, 25-9, 25-19).
Whitney Seidel and
Ashley Chamberlin led the Highlanders with three kills each.

Throughout the majority of Saturday's match the Highlanders struggled to get momentum going. In the first set the Nittany Lions dominated the set, leading 22-3 before the Highlanders went on a 5-0 run thanks to a kill by
Ashley Chamberlin and a pair of aces by
Ashley Wharton. After the run the Nittany Lions won the final three points to take the first set 25-8.

Cairn opened the second set much stronger than the first. The Highlanders trailed by just two (7-5) before the Nittany Lions used a 13-0 run to take a controlling 20-5 advantage. The Highlanders picked up four late points, with kills from Chamberlin and
Haley Sheehan highlighting the late play, but it wasn't enough as the Highlanders fell 25-9 in the second set.

The majority of excitement for the Highlanders' fans came in the third set when Cairn used runs of 5-1 and 8-1 to pull within four of the Nittany Lions with score at 21-17. Unfortunately, Penn State-Harrisburg took four of the final six points to claim the set (25-19) and the match (3-0).

On the day the Highlanders picked-up seven kills, their fewest in match this season.

The loss drops Cairn to 1-9 on the season. The Highlanders will next take the court on Wednesday when they host Marywood University at 7:00 p.m.
