HUNTINGDON, PA - The men's volleyball team of Cairn University traveled to Juniata College, on Saturday April 2nd.  Though the Highlanders put forth considerable effort, they were shut out by the Eagles in three sets.

The Eagles began the first set strong, leading 4-0 from the start. Senior David Dager was able to connect for a kill from freshman Matthew Gump, putting the Eagles advantage at 4-1. Juniata was successful in keeping Cairn from scoring, allowing Cairn to collect only 13 points overall.

The second set was more closely contested, as Cairn trailed Juniata closely throughout. Juniata was leading 19-12 when a block led by sophomore Andy Willits put Cairn at 19-13. Freshman Matthew Gump and sophomore Tyler Schuhly created a wall and blocked Juniata's attempt, putting the Highlanders at 19-14. A kill by Andy Willits put the Highlanders at 19-15. Juniata closed the second set 25-17.

The Highlanders started the third set with a 3-0 lead, then gave the Eagles a chance to catch up, making the score a close 4-3 with the Eagles leading by one. A later kill from sophomore Micah Godshall placed the Highlanders back in the lead at 8-7, though the Eagles finalized the match with a 25-14 closeout.

Leading the Highlanders in kills was Micah Godshall with 12, followed by Andy Willits with eight. Andy Willits led the team in digs with four, followed by David Dager and Matthew Gump who collected three each. Matthew Gump led the Highlanders with 25 assists.

Kyle Seeley led the Eagles with 11 kills, followed by Chad Albert with nine. Ryan Shelton finished with five digs, with Brendan Smith ended with four. Ryan Shelton led the Eagles with 24 assists.

Cairn concludes their 2015-2016 season 6-14 overall, and 1-11 in the CVC. Juniata stands 10-15 overall, and 5-7 in the conference.
