Cairn Wins Two In a Row; Beats Keystone 68-62

La Plume, PA – The women's basketball team won their second game in a row on Saturday afternoon with a 68-62 victory at Keystone College. The Highlanders' last win against the Giants came in 2010 with a 67-57 result in Langhorne, Pa.
 
Payton Emerick's second double-double of the season led the Highlanders in the game. Emerick scored 24 points on 8-11 shooting from the floor and 8-10 from the free throw line; she also grabbed 13 rebounds.
 
Overall, the Highlanders shot 47.8% from the floor and 75% from the free throw line (21-28). By comparison, Keystone shot just 27.5% from the floor and 66% from the free throw line.
 
Amie Eppolito followed Emerick on the scoreboard with 19 total points. Kendra Stum also played well, collecting nine points and nine rebounds.
 
Destinee Hall led the Giants in the game with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Samantha Donahue followed Hall with 12 points and four assists.
 
Cairn held the largest lead in the game at 14 points at the 55-second mark in the second quarter. However, the Giants cut the deficit to eight before halftime and eventually to two points in the fourth quarter.
 
The Highlanders were able to stay in the lead down the stretch by getting to the free-throw line and making the baskets. Eppolito made 4-4 with 29 seconds or less to play in the fourth quarter.
 
With the win, Cairn improved to 3-8 overall and 3-2 in the conference. Keystone fell to 6-7 overall and 3-3 in the CSAC with the loss. The Highlanders will return to the court next week when they travel to Rutgers-Camden on Monday, Jan. 11.
