Men's Basketball Falls to Neumann At Home, 78-67

Langhorne, PA – Cairn men's basketball fell to the Neumann Knights on Saturday afternoon for the second time this season, 78-67. The Highlanders held a lead of four in the first half but the Knights took over and led the rest of the way.

Denzel Yard led the Knights with 17 points on 7-13 shooting from the floor. Darian Barnes had a double-double for Neumann with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Cairn was able to keep the turnovers to a minimum throughout the game, something they have struggled with earlier in the season. Gerroid Doughty II led the Highlanders with 24 points in the game, and pulled down five rebounds.

Kyle Bonner followed Doughty with 15 points and five rebounds. Jordan Sharpe finished with eight points and eight rebounds. Julian Collazo led the team in assists with five.

Neumann led Cairn at the half 37-32 but the Highlanders couldn't keep the game that close throughout the second half. The Knights went on to take a 10-point lead shortly into the half and kept the Highlanders at bay throughout the rest of the game.

The Highlanders were at a slight disadvantage with the height of the Knights' players; Neumann led in points in the paint by ten, 40-30. Neumann was also able to get to the free throw line for 30 attempts, compared to the Highlanders' 17.

With the loss, Cairn dropped to 6-8 overall and 3-5 in the conference. Neumann improved to 9-6 overall and 5-3 in the CSAC with the win. The Highlanders will return to the court on Monday, Jan. 18, when they host the University of Valley Forge at 7 p.m.
