Lancaster, PA - Cairn University women's volleyball traveled to Lancaster Bible College on Tuesday evening and lost a 3-0 match to the Chargers. The Highlanders saw an improvement in their play, however, and finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-18, 25-20.
Cairn finished with their highest number of assists (13) and tied for their lowest number of receiving errors (11) for this season. For the third time this season, the Highlanders finished with a positive attacking percentage (.020).
Whitney Seidel led on the attacking front with six kills, followed by
Abigail Litman with four.
Breanna Blair had 12 assists, while
Haley Sheehan collected nine digs in the match.
Despite the Highlanders efforts, the Chargers were able to pull ahead in each of the sets with kill numbers alone. Lancaster Bible collected 40 kills in the match, led by Lauren Grimm and Alyssa Bowen with eight each. The Chargers had 12 or more kills in each set to defeat the Highlanders.
Digs were nearly even in the match though, with 25 for Lancaster Bible and 23 for Cairn. Neither team had any blocks over the three sets.
With the loss, Cairn dropped to 0-10 on the season, while Lancaster Bible improved to 5-6 overall. The Highlanders will return to the courts this Thursday when they host Immaculata University at 7 p.m.
