La Plume, PA – The Highlanders traveled up north to take on the Giants of Keystone College for a Colonial States Athletic Conference match and lost 3-0. With the loss, Cairn dropped to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference for the 2015 season.
From the start, Keystone controlled the tempo of the match and didn't allow Cairn to have any kills in the opening set. The Highlanders committed three attacking errors in the first set, while Keystone had eight kills and four errors. The Giants were led in the match by Kristen Larkin with seven kills overall.
Cairn turned out a better second set with five kills and five errors but were beaten in the set 25-13, after a first-set loss of 25-6. The Highlanders were led by
Whitney Seidel with three kills, followed by
Haley Sheehan with two.
Breanna Blair also had a kill in the match, along with three assists.
Despite only having four kills in the third set, Keystone was able to finish of the match with a 25-7 win over the Highlanders. Keystone also led on digs in the match, 18-11, but both teams finished with three blocks.
Abigail Litman collected two block assists to lead the team.
The Highlanders will have a quick turnaround when they play at Wilkes University tomorrow, Sept. 19, for a tri-match.
