Langhorne, PA – The Cairn women's soccer team overcame the University of Valley Forge Patriots with a 9-0 win on Thursday afternoon and improved to 2-3 overall. The Highlanders showed up with an impressive first half and scored their first seven goals within the opening 31 minutes.
In the first half, Cairn didn't let Valley Forge take a shot, while sending 20 shots towards the Patriots' goal.
Courtney Novak scored three goals in the game to bring her season total to four, while
Meghan Wilson added two of her own, improving her season total to six. Novak also collected two assists in the game to tie Wilson for points on the season with 12.
Hannah Morrison and
Megan Nash also tallied in the game, while the Patriots put in two own goals. Following the first 30 minutes of the game, the Patriots moved their defensive line farther up the field and forced Cairn offsides 11 times in the contest.
The Highlanders took five corner kicks in the game and
Mackenzie Paugh was forced to make four saves in the second half. Paugh's counterpart, Makenzie Maun made 11 saves throughout the 90 minutes.
Cairn will return to action this Saturday when they host Immaculata University at 11 a.m. to kick off CSAC play.
