Results Union, NJ – The Highlanders opened the 2015 women's tennis campaign with a narrow 5-4 loss to Kean University on Tuesday evening. Cairn split the singles matches 3-3 but lost two of the doubles matches to the Cougars.
Rebecca Graber won her no. 1 singles match against Nayla Hinton with a 6-2, 6-3 final score. Graber then teamed up with
Julia Derus to win their no. 1 doubles match 8-2. Derus also won her singles match in the no. 2 spot 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.

Rebecca Graber also stayed poised against a very heavy hitter to win her match in straight sets continuing her winning ways of last season. We're heading for a really good season."
Lauren Caruso rounded out the wins for the Highlanders with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Shruti Nadkarni in the no. 3 singles position. Caruso played in the no. 2 doubles slot with
Sara Keating where they dropped an 8-4 match to Nadkarni and Christy Verdi.

Kara Williams both dropped their singles matches with 6-1, 6-2 scores in the no. 4 and no. 5 singles positions, respectively.
Melissa Chery lost her no. 6 singles match 6-0, 6-0 to Brianna Martin. Lastly, Williams and Chery dropped their no. 3 doubles match 8-0.
The match was a good start to the 2015 season for the Highlanders and showed promise for the younger players that are on the team. Cairn will take the result into this Saturday's match when they host Delaware Valley University at 12 p.m.
