Bethlehem, PA – The Highlanders opened up their 2015 season with a 6-0 loss to Moravian College on Tuesday afternoon. The Greyhounds launched 29 shots at the Highlanders as compared to eight going the other way.
Sixteen of the Greyhounds' shots came in the first half, but only one goal was let through
Mike Warren's path. Warren made eight saves through the first 45 minutes to limit Moravian's scoring. Although Moravian went on to score five goals in the second half to get past the Highlanders.
Four of the Highlanders' eight shots were on goal but not could get past the keeper, Brian Boland.
Connor Eby and
Zack Nelson each had two shots with one that was directed in between the posts.
Cairn had one corner kick throughout the game, compared to six for Moravian. The Greyhounds were drawn offsides six times in the match; the Highlanders were ahead of the ball four times in the game.
Two of Moravian's goals were scored by Hunter Ackerson; Ian Larimer assisted on two goals and scored one of his own to lead the team in points.
The setback forces Cairn to start the season with an 0-1 record and they will try to recover this Saturday, Sept. 5, when they play at Bryn Athyn College against the University of Valley Forge.
