Langhorne, PA – The Highlanders of Cairn University hosted Marywood University this afternoon in softball action and were defeated in both games of the doubleheader. The Pacers won the first game in seven innings 10-0 and the second game in five innings 15-3. 
Tiffany Gower picked up the loss in game one, while 
Kelly Hendrickson was in the circle for Cairn in game two. 
In game one the Pacers only had a 1-0 lead through the first four innings, but from there they opened up the scoring with six runs in the fifth inning. Marywood scored their six runs on six hits while batting around the lineup. 
Cairn held Marywood scoreless in the sixth inning but the Pacers added three more runs in the seventh on a bases-clearing double by Mackie Goodwin. The Highlanders had four hits in the game from four different players. 
Marywood started out the scoring in game two of the doubleheader with two runs in the top of the first inning. Cairn responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first inning and tied up the game.

The Pacers scored two more in the third inning and Cairn responded to come within one at 4-3. 
Rachel Clark singled to right-center which scored 
Hannah Blackmer. Unfortunately, Marywood once again found their bats and scored seven runs in the fourth inning. Those runs included a grand slam from Chelsea Epler to put the Pacers up 11-3. 
Marywood added four more runs in the fifth inning and won the game on the mercy rule after Cairn couldn't score in the bottom of the fifth. 
With the losses, Cairn dropped to 0-20 overall and 0-8 in the conference. Marywood improved to 7-9 overall and 7-1 in the CSAC with the wins. The Highlanders will next play on Friday, Apr. 10, when they travel to Gwynedd Mercy University.
