Highlanders Blanked By Diplomats On The Road

Lancaster, PA – The Cairn softball team traveled to Franklin & Marshall on Thursday afternoon where they were shut out in both games of the doubleheader. With the losses, the Highlanders dropped to 0-16 this season and with the wins, Franklin & Marshall improved to 12-2 overall.
 
Cairn registered just one hit in each of the games and lost by mercy rule in both. The first game went to the sixth inning before the Diplomats scored the eighth run to end the game. Franklin & Marshall were able to score seven runs in the second inning, then added one more in the sixth. Collecting the only hit for the Highlanders in the first game was Jessica Piccolo with a single in the second.
 
Franklin & Marshall continued to dominate in the second game and finished off the Highlanders in five innings. The Diplomats scored five runs in the first inning on their way to a 13-0 final score. Franklin & Marshall once again held Cairn to just one hit. The Highlanders only hit was made by Brigid Shehan in the second game with a lead-off single to right field.
 
Collecting the wins for the Diplomats from the circle were Isabel Schaefer and Megan Ryan. Tiffany Gower and Kelly Hendrickson picked up the losses for the Highlanders. Cairn will next travel to Keystone College after the Easter Break for their second CSAC opponent of the season.
