Langhorne, PA - Cairn Highlanders women's basketball hosted their second CSAC game in as many days and fell to the Immaculata Mighty Macs 81-33. Through the first half,
Amy Faust led the team in scoring with nine points;
Amie Eppolito led the team for the game with 13 points.
Kristen Castner recorded her highest amount of minutes all season with 28 and led the team off the boards with 11 rebounds. Castner also recorded four points on 2-5 shooting from the field. Castner connected with Eppolito for a nice give-and-go play in the second half, reinforcing her increased minutes.
Immaculata proved too strong for the Highlanders and built a 21-4 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game. Sarah Smith led the scoring for the Mighty Macs in the game with 14, she was followed by Meghan Gallagher off the bench with 12. By the end of the first half, Immaculata led 37-14.
Gallagher also led the team in rebounding with eight. The Mighty Macs scored a majority of their points on close shots near the rim; just two baskets were made from outside the arc.
The Mighty Macs outscored the Highlanders 44-19 through the second half. Eppolito went 5-24 for the game, while Faust was 4-9 overall. Immaculata shot 44% from the field throughout the game.
With the loss, Cairn dropped to 2-15 overall and 0-11 in conference play. Immaculata improved to 13-7 overall and 10-1 in the CSAC with the win. The Highlanders will next travel to Cedar Crest College on Friday evening to take on the Falcons at 6 p.m.
