Allentown, PA - The Highlanders traveled to Cedar Crest College Friday evening to face the Falcons in their return CSAC contest and fell 58-40.
Amie Eppolito led the team in scoring with 14 but she was joined by
Amy Faust who recorded her first double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Both Faust and Eppolito recorded five points in the first half en-route to a 26-14 halftime deficit. The Falcons shot 35% in the first half and had 10 steals on the Highlanders' 15 turnovers. The Highlanders cut the lead to just three at points in the first 20 minutes but couldn't keep up with the Falcons.
Cedar Crest kept their lead in the double digits throughout the second half, not allowing Cairn to gain an advantage. The Falcons were led by Breonna Lewis with 13 points and Taylor Osley with 12 points. The two of them combined for 8-9 from the free-throw line.
Tori Moll made her return to the court after a few games out with an injury and scored seven points for the Highlanders. Despite Faust's efforts on the boards, the Highlanders were led by
Kristen Castner with 12 rebounds in the game.
Regina Younger followed with eight rebounds and three steals.
Ultimately, Cedar Crest didn't give up the lead throughout the game on their way to their fourth win in the CSAC this season. The Falcons are now 5-15 overall, and with the loss the Highlanders dropped to 2-16 for 2014-15 and 0-12 in the conference.
