La Plume, PA - Cairn women's basketball met the Giants of Keystone College on Saturday afternoon, where they Highlanders dropped a 71-31 game.
Amie Eppolito led the team with 15 points, followed by
Amy Faust with four.
Keystone proved to be the much stronger team through the first half by outscoring Cairn 51-7 over the first 20 minutes. Ashley Evans led the Giants in scoring with 14 points; she was followed by Alyssa Cuomo with 12. The Giants scored 19 points off of turnovers in the first half and had 24 points in the paint.
The second half was a better story for Cairn, as they outscored Keystone 24-20. The Highlanders had five points off of turnovers against the Giants' one. Leading the rebounding effort for Cairn was Faust with four offensive and four defensive boards. Despite the second half effort though, Cairn's smallest deficit in the second half was 39 points.
Kristen Castner started the game for the first time since November 2014 and had five rebounds, two steals, and two points. The Highlanders got to the line just six times in the game, compared to 19 for the Giants.
With the loss, Cairn dropped to 2-18 overall and 0-14 in the conference. Keystone improved to 12-12 overall and 9-6 in the CSAC with the win. The Highlanders will next host Rosemont College on Monday, Feb. 16, for their final home game of the season at 6 p.m.
