Hackettstown, NJ – Cairn women's volleyball traveled to Centenary College on Thursday evening to take on the Cyclones, where they were defeated in three sets in conference action. The Highlanders lost 25-22, 25-18, 25-17 to drop to 0-15 overall and 0-7 in the CSAC for 2015.
Centenary College put away 10 more kills throughout the match than the Highlanders (27-17) and had an attacking percentage of .231 overall. The Cyclones were led by Zoey Woody with eight kills and Giani Montalvo with seven kills. Ashley Bierbaum collected eight assists to lead Centenary as the setter.
Cairn was led by
Abigail Litman (Lebanon, PA/New Covenant Christian School) with seven kills in the match; she was followed by
Whitney Seidel (Harleysville, PA/Upper Bucks Christian) with six kills. Seidel also had two blocks in the match, and led the team along with
Haley Sheehan (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown Community H.S.) in digs with six each.
Breanna Blair (Manchester, PA/Christian School of York) finished with 13 aces overall.
Aces abounded in this match for both teams, as Centenary had more aces than Cairn had in kills. However, the Highlaners were no slouch either with 14 aces overall; the Cyclones had 20 aces in the match.
Centenary improved to 2-12 overall and 1-4 in the CSAC with the win. The Highlanders will next host Gwynedd Mercy University on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m.
