Langhorne, PA – Cairn University women's volleyball hosted Neumann University on Tuesday evening and was beaten by the Knights in three sets. The set scores were 25-7, 25-8, and 25-13 in the CSAC matchup.
The Highlanders hit nine kills in the match and were led by
Whitney Seidel with four.
Haley Sheehan had three and
Abigail Litman hit two kills for the Highlanders.
Breanna Blair finished the match with eight assists.
Neumann hit 40 kills with at least 13 in each set; Rachael Hoffman led the Knights with 10. The Knights had 17 aces in the match, with six from Kat Wolf. Wolf also had 30 assists for the Knights.
Cairn was able to stay within a point of Neumann at the start of set three, down 8-7, but that was as close as the Highlanders would get to the Knights. Neumann played consistent and was just too strong for Cairn.
On the defensive side of the net, Cairn had 18 digs and was led by Litman with six. Neither team had a block in the match. Neumann finished with 27 digs, led by Anna Waltz, also with six.
With the loss, Cairn dropped to 0-14 overall and 0-6 in the CSAC. Neumann improved to 8-11 on the season and 3-2 in the conference. The Highlanders will next travel to Centenary College on Thursday, Oct. 8, to take on the Cyclones.
