Langhorne, PA – The Highlanders dropped a three-setter to Cedar Crest College on Saturday morning in conference action. Cairn fell to 0-19 overall and 0-10 in the conference with the results, while Cedar Crest improved to 5-14 overall and 3-5 in the conference.
Cedar Crest totaled 30 kills in the match to Cairn's 16. The Falcons also had 14 aces to the Highlanders' five. Molly Schnaubelt led the Falcons in kills with 11, followed by Maggie Olock with eight.
Haley Sheehan (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown Community H.S.) led the Highlanders in kills with five, followed by
Whitney Seidel (Harleysville, PA/Upper Bucks Christian) with four. Sheehan also led the team with a season-high 21 digs. The Highlanders opened the match with a 25-16 loss in the first set.
In the second set, Cairn recovered from an early deficit to lead the game 16-15. However, Celina Danish was a menace from the service line for the Highlanders and the Falcons scored the next eight points. The Falcons went on to win the set 25-19.
The Highlanders stayed with the Falcons for the most part throughout the third set but were down 24-18 at the end. Cairn then won the next four points but could not complete the comeback and fell 25-22 in set three.
Cairn will next travel to Rosemont College on Wednesday, Oct. 28, to take on the Ravens.
