Scranton, PA – Marywood University defeated Cairn University 3-0 in women's volleyball action this afternoon as the Highlanders traveled north to take on the Pacers. The Highlanders could not put up more than 9 points in a set and the Pacers controlled the match from start to finish.
Marywood defeated Cairn with set scores of 25-5, 25-8, and 25-9. The Pacers were led by Mallorie Deschaine with 12 kills and the Pacers had a total attack percentage of .444 for the match. The Pacers had 17 aces and 41 digs overall.
Cairn had a total of five kills with two each from
Whitney Seidel (Harleysville, PA/Upper Bucks Christian) and
Haley Sheehan (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown Community H.S.). Seidel also led the team in digs with eight; as a team, Cairn had 27 digs. Seidel and
Sophia DiLorenzo (Binghamton, NY/Homeschool) each had one block in the match, and
Breanna Blair (Manchester, PA/Christian School of York) had two assists.
With the loss, the Highlanders dropped to 0-18 overall and 0-9 in the conference. Marywood improved to 4-16 overall and 4-3 in the CSAC with the win. Cairn will next host Cedar Crest College on Saturday, Oct. 24, for a 11 a.m. match.
