Women's Basketball Drops 84-30 Contest To Centenary

Langhorne, PA - The Highlanders played host to the Centenary College women's basketball team on Saturday evening in CSAC action and lost in an 84-30 contest. With the loss, Cairn dropped to 2-13 overall and 0-9 in the conference, while Centenary improved to 6-13 overall and 5-5 in the CSAC.
 
Centenary spread out their points among their top scorers and ended with five players in double-digits. Four of those players scored ten points, and every player that got onto the floor for the Cyclones scored at least two points. Overall, the Cyclones collected 18 steals and forced Cairn to commit 29 turnovers.
 
The Highlanders were again led by the offensive efforts of Amie Eppolito who scored 20 points. Eppolito went 5-12 from three-point range to score most of her points. Also scoring in the game was Amy Faust (4), Kellie Grosvenor (2), Rebecca Bryan (2), and Kristen Castner (2).
 
Eppolito scored the first three points of the game on her first three-pointer but by the time Centenary took the lead at 4-3 they already had control of the first half. The Cyclones ran up the score to 26-3 before the Highlanders could get their next points on the board. Eppolito scored two more threes before the end of the half along with a Bryan field goal.
 
The Highlanders picked up the pace in the second half and scored 19 points in 13 minutes. However, Cairn would not score for the remaining seven minutes and Centenary proceeded to build their lead until the final buzzer.
 
Overall, the Cyclones shot 58% from the field but just 1-11 from three-point range. Centenary was also 72% from the free-throw line, while Cairn made 75%.
 
Cairn will next host Cabrini College on Monday, Feb. 2, at 6 p.m. in Langhorne, Pa.
