With five first year players, the Highlanders are still looking to find their groove and settle into a collegiate system. Samantha Sysak answered in the 39th minute of play, her first of three goals on the afternoon, and the Cyclones took a 2-1 lead into the break.
The Highlanders struggled in the remaining 45 minutes of competition, allowing 4 goals on 11 shots. Despite the final score
Mackenzie Paugh kept the Highlanders in the game making 11 saves. Only being a Freshman,
Paugh has posted double digit saves in back to back games for a season total of 33 in four games.
"Do not count us out! We are young and inexperienced, but we are hungry" said Coach Behnke. "This was the opening contest for the CSAC, there is still plenty of season left to be played, and we are looking forward to it."
The Highlanders will use the next three days to prepare as they will travel to Immaculata, to battle the Mighty Macs on Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
