Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Langhorne, PA- The Highlanders faced off against the Lions of PSU-Hazleton this afternoon in a doubleheader, coming close to two wins but falling short, 7-8 and 1-2.

In game one, the Highlanders jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. The Lions responded, however, scoring 4 in the top of the second. The two teams hung with each other until Cairn scored in the bottom of the fifth, taking a 5-4 lead. But, due to a few errors on Cairn's end, the Highlanders fell behind as the Lions tacked on four more runs by the top of the seventh inning. Cairn had what looked like a comeback on the Lions in the bottom of the seventh when both Brigid Shehan and Kelly Hendrickson were brought in by a Carly Moniz triple but the Highlanders were unable to come out on top, losing 7-8.

Carly Moniz went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI's and Kelly Hendrickson went 2-for-3 scoring once. 

Game two was also a tight match, but this time it was a defensive battle. Cairn's solo run was scored early on in the bottom of the second inning by Brigid Shehan thanks to a Carly Moniz RBI. PSU-Hazleton scored once in the first inning as well as once in the fifth leaving this game with a final score of 2-1. 

Kelly Hendrickson pitched for the Highlanders in their second game. She saw 30 batters, striking out 3 and allowing 7 hits.

The pair of losses drops Cairn to 8-13 overall and 3-7 in the CSAC.

The Highlanders will host non-conference rival Eastern University tomorrow afternoon beginning at 3:00pm.
