Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Washington, DC- The Lady Highlanders defeated conference opponent Trinity University in doubleheader action Monday afternoon.

Despite an early deficit against the Tigers in the first matchup the Lady Highlanders bats started off hot and stayed hot the whole game, racking up twelve runs and fourteen hits for the contest.  A huge seven run sixth inning blew the contest wide open, cementing the Lady Highlanders win.  After three straight run scoring singles, an RBI triple from Lady Highlander pitcher Kelly Hendrickson knocked in three runs and clinched her own first victory.  Hendrickson's four RBI's and six innings of five-hit ball led the Lady Highlanders to the first big victory.  Other big contributors were Jocelyn Good and Hannah Blackmer who both tallied three hits on the afternoon.  

The second contest between these two conference opponents was far more tightly contested as Hendrickson, pitching her second straight game, gave up another two earned runs in the second contest.  The Tigers defense limited Cairn to three runs throughout the early stages of the contest as the Lady Highlanders only quality run was a Jessica Good single.  The game remained close until Lady Highlander cleanup hitter Brigid Shehan stepped to the plate in the seventh inning.  With the bases loaded, Shehan saw the opportunity to win the game for Cairn and with one big swing sent the ball out of the park for a game-clinching grand slam.  Shehan's blast made her 2-4 in the second contest and Hendrickson picked up her second win of the season.  

The Lady Highlanders will host Cedar Crest College for another doubleheader Friday afternoon as they seek to achieve a four-game conference winning streak.  The first game will begin at 11:00 AM.
