Highlanders Power Past Penn State-Brandywine with Good's Grand Slam

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Langhorne, PA- Cairn softball continues to roll past its opponents, defeating non-conference rival PSU-Brandywine in today's doubleheader, 9-1 and 11-5.

 single bringing in Kelly Hendrickson and Jocelyn GoodCynthia Page and Kristen Hubler each hit a double bringing in the next two runs. The Highlanders scored three more runs in the second inning, putting a significant lead between them and the Lions. Cairn would not score any runs over the next two innings, giving Brandywine the chance to creep up on the Highlanders as they scored one run in the second inning and three in the fifth making the score 7-4. With the Nittany Lions gaining ground on the Highlanders, Jocelyn Good struck the blow that would clinch the game for Cairn.  With the bases loaded the freshman pounded a fastball all the way to the wall and catching PSU-Brandywine off guard.  Good was able to touch every bag, scoring a spectatular inside the park grand slam.  Brandywine scored once more in the seventh, but it was not enough and the Highlanders walked away with an 11-5 victory.

Cynthia Page pitched all 7 innings seeing 33 batters, striking out 2. 

Hendrickson went a perfect 3-for-3 scoring twice, Jocelyn Good was 2-for-4 with 4 RBI's, and Brigid Shehan went 3-for-4 scoring twice and earned 3 RBI's.

Cairn softball is now 7-2 overall.

The Highlanders resume conference play this Friday at 3:00PM for a doubleheader at Cabrini College.
