Lady Highlanders Lead at Halftime Not Enough, Lose 71-46

Phoenixville, PA - The Lady Highlanders took a lead into halftime, but it was not enough as Cairn fell to Trinity Baptist (FL) by a score of 71-46.  With the loss, Cairn falls to 2-3 on the young season while Trinity Baptist improves to 3-3 on the season.

Cairn led the entire first half behind Briteny Jackson's 12 points and 9 rebounds.  Jackson was 6-9 from the floor in the first half.  Through five minutes of play Cairn was on top 8-3 and looking to build on their lead.  Trinity kept it close and cut the lead to one point with a layup by Kaneesha Elliot, making the score 13-12 Cairn.  Cairn continue to increase their lead to as many as seven points through the remaining minutes of play in the first half, but every time the Highlanders built a lead, Trinity would be there to answer.  Cairn took a three point lead into the break 28-25.

The second half, Cairn was looking to take the momentum they built on, but Trinity was able to steal the lead just a minute into the second half.  Cairn built their lead back to seven by a jumper from Amie Eppolito at the 15:40 mark making the score 36-29.  From that point forward, Trinity went on a tear going on to score 46 points in the second half.  As a team, Cairn only shot 25% fromt the field in the second half and 22% from behind the arc.  Britney Jackson had another double-double on the season scoring all 12 points in the first point and pulling down 12 boards.  Amie Eppolito had 12 points, 5 boards, and 2 assits.  Emily Tambussi contributed 8 points and 11 rebounds, just missing out on a double-double.  For the game, Cairn shot 30% from the field, 15% from behind the arc, and 75% from the charity stripe.

The Lady Highlanders will use these next two weeks to continue to get stronger before they will open conference play on December 6 at 2:00 pm when they host Gwynedd Mercy.
