Phoenixville, PA - The second day of the Holiday Inn Tip-Off Tournament was not as kind to the Lady Highlanders as they fell to the Royals of Johnson University by a final score of 34-70.
The Lady Highlanders began the game very strong defensively, limiting the Royals to only six points over the first ten minutes of gameplay and twenty-five for the first half. Despite their staunch defensive efforts, Cairn was unable to find their flow offensively, shooting only 20% from the floor and tallying 11 turnovers for the first period of play.
Esther Adams snagged an impressive ten rebounds in the first half for the Lady Highlanders.
Despite the Lady Highlanders best efforts in the second half, they simply could not find enough offensive firepower and were worn down by the depth of the Royals. Whether it was the solid defense of Johnson University or perhaps tired legs from Cairn due to back-to-back games, the Lady Highlanders only managed to shoot 24% from the field for the game and fell by a final score of 34-70.
Amie Eppolito led Cairn offensively with 10 points,
Adams fell two points short of another double-double totaling 8 points and 11 rebounds, and
Britney Jackson had another 15 rebounds bringing her season average to an impressive 17 rebounds per game.
The Lady Highlanders will look to get back on track at 12:00 pm Saturday afternoon against Trinity Baptist College (FL).
