Box Score Box Score

Gwynedd Valley, PA - Despite the women's soccer team coming away from a 3-0, 42-shot defeat of Baptist Bible College, they could not compete with the pressure of the Griffins' offense and lost 5-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Gwynedd Mercy also shut down the Cairn offense this afternoon, not allowing the Highlanders to take a shot in the 90 minutes of play. At the end of the first half the score was only 1-0, but the Griffins added four more from the 48th to the 79th minutes. Kerri Petroski scored the fourth goal of the game on a direct kick from about 20 yards out to beat Mackenzie Paugh.

The Highlanders put pressure on the Griffins' defense with three corner kicks in the first half, two of which in the first three minutes, and one in the second. Gwynedd Mercy sent in five corner kicks throughout the match.

On the defensive side, Paugh made three saves in front of the net for the Highlanders. Cairn committed nine fouls on the afternoon to Gwynedd Mercy's three.

With the loss, Cairn's overall record drops to 3-6-1 and conference record to 2-3-1 this season. Gwynedd Mercy's overall record increases to 8-4 and the Griffins remain undefeated in the conference with a 6-0 record.

The Highlanders will next travel to Cedar Crest College on Tuesday, Oct. 14, to play at 4 p.m.
