Cairn Falls in Close Contest with Immaculata

Box Score Langhorne, PA- Cairn battled the entire night but simply could not outdo the Mighty Macs, falling by a score of 89-84.

Box Score

In the opening half the Highlanders and Mighty Macs clashed back and forth, and came out virtually even as the score was 40-39 in favor of Immaculata.  Juniors Reuben Lacy and Omar Askia arried the Highlanders on the scoreboard as the forwards netted twelve and nine first half points respectively.

A 12-3 run by the Mighty Macs to open the second half would prove to be decisive in the outcome of this game, as Immaculata would never trail after this point.  Immaculata's balanced scoring attack (10 different players scored) and mastery of the paint (42 rebounds to 24 for the Highlanders) would not allow any open space for a Highlander comeback.  A flurry of three pointers by freshman Obed Rivera in the closing moments of the game was not enough for the Highlanders, and a couple free throws from Immaculata forward Barry Brockington would seal the game for the Mighty Macs.

Noteworthy performers for the Highlanders on the night:

Reuben Lacy (18 points, 4 blocks)
Obed Rivera (15 points, 5-6 from three)
JD Zamroz (15 points)
Darnell Clowney (12 points, 4 assists)

The Highlanders will travel to Bryn Athyn, PA Monday night to take on Bryn Athyn College.
