Cairn Suffers Defeat to Centenary

Box Score Hackettstown, NJ- The Cairn Highlanders sought a season sweep of the Cyclones of Centenary College in tonight's contest, but their best efforts were to no avail as Centenary defeated the Highlanders 70-52.

Box Score

A mere ten days ago the Highlanders had achieved their first win of the season against Centenary, but the Cyclones were able to exact revenge on their home court.  In a game Centenary led from the jump, Cairn simply could not muster enough offense to achieve another victory.  The first ten minutes were very close as the Cyclones threw their punches and the Highlanders refused to falter.  A Reuben Lacy jumper brought Cairn as close as five points with a minute left in the first half.  Despite a good showing in the opening half, a 12-2 run to begin the second half would prove to be the unravelling of the Highlanders as Cairn would come no closer than fourteen points in the rest of the second half; eventually falling by a score of 70-52.

On a night where ten Highlanders managed to score, there was just not enough concentrated offensive firepower to overcome the Cyclones.  Only two Highlanders (JD Zamroz and Reuben Lacy  were able to reach double digits, as Lacy tallied a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and Zamroz recorded 11 points of his own.

The Highlanders will seek another victory when they host Immaculata University Saturday afternoon at 4:00 pm.
