Box Score Langhorne, PA- In a game where the Cairn Highlanders truly showed their heart; the size and athleticism of the Neumann Knights was simply too much to handle.
Box Score
Neumann jumped on Cairn early in the contest, but a 14-2 run by the Highlanders, capped by two
Darnell Clowney free throws, tied things up at 19 apiece with only 7 minutes left in the first half. This would prove to be the closest the Highlanders would come, as Neumann, behind the steady hand of senior point guard Reggie Coleman (15 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists) went on their own tear almost immediately after, closing the first half at a score of 25-41.
Cairn was led by the threesome of juniors,
Reuben Lacy (17 points, 9 rebounds),
Darnell Clowney (14 points, 2 blocks), and
Omar Askia (11 points, 4 rebounds). The Highlanders scrapped the entire second half to get closer, but a couple rim-shaking dunks by Neumann's Mark Blount (22 points) and momentum halting threes from sophomore Kevin Green (18 points) kept the Highlanders at bay.
The Highlanders fought hard the entire game, but plagued by turnovers and untimely fouls, Neumann was able to come out on top at a final score of 77-55.
The Highlanders still seek their first conference win as they will host the 2-10, Cyclones of Centenary College Monday night, 1/13/14, at 7:00 pm.
