Men's Soccer Wins CSAC Opener, Defeat Last Seasons Finalist, Rosemont, 2-1

Milcarek now has 3 goals in 2013
Box Score Langhorne, PA - The Highlanders extend their unbeaten run to four games with a 2-1 win over Colonial States Athletic Conference rivals Rosemont College.

Box Score

The win against last season's CSAC finalist was just the start the Highlanders were looking for to kick-start their 2013 conference schedule.

In the opening half, Cairn outshot the visiting Ravens 6-3 but more importantly got on the scoresheet first. In the 33rd minute, sophomore Andrew Milcarek put his shot over the Raven's goalkeepers head to the far post and gave the Highlanders the 1-0 lead heading into the break.

Rosemont, however, made things interesting in the 62nd minute when they tied the score up at 1-1, after Javier Alvarado and Ansu Corneh combined inside the box.

Cairn responded in the 76th minute from a corner-kick to retake the lead. Senior Jeremy McAlack's cross found the boot of Andrew Gordon, whose touch elubed the diving Max McDonald in the Raven's net.

Cairn held an 11-8 advantage in shots, but an even larger margin of 8-2 in shots on goal.

The win is the fourth in a row for the Highlanders and fifth in six games. With the win, the Highlanders improve to 6-3, 1-0 CSAC. With still atleast 13 games to play this season, the men have already matched their win total from a season ago.

The men will look to continue their success this Wednesday when they take on Immaculata University on the road.
