Scranton, PA - Cairn University took the lead in the second half of their Colonial States Athletic Conference contest with Marywood University, but were unable to hold on for the win, eventually falling 2-1.

Laurisa Wager scored her fourth goal of the season in the 52nd minute, giving the Highlanders a surprise 1-0 lead on the road. Wager was set up in the middle of the 18-yard box by seniorÂ
Kathleen Meacham and calmly slotted her ball past the Pacer's goalkeeper.
However, it only took Marywood four minutes to respond with a goal of their own. Shannon Stoll scored an unassisted goal in the 56th minute to tie things up at 1-1.
Stoll was once again involved in things when she assisted on the Pacer's game-winner with just over ten minutes to play. Jeanne Russo one-timed her shot past Cairn'sÂ
Naomi Collipp in the 79th minute for the go-ahead goal.
Collipp made five saves for Cairn.
Marywood outshot Cairn 15-10, a vast improvement on the Highlanders part who were outshot 41-5 a year ago by the same opponent.
The loss drops the Highlanders to 2-5 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.
Next up for Cairn is another CSAC battle with Gwynedd Mercy University on September 26th.
