Doylestown, PA - In their season finale, the Cairn University Highlanders fell in doubleheader action against Middle Atlantic Conference opponent Delaware Valley College.
The Highlanders were shutout in game one with the Aggies, falling 8-0.
Kelly Hendrickson's single to right center in the first inning was all that stopped DelVal's Stacey Whitney from earning a no-hitter. It was the only hit of the game for the Highlanders.
Hendrickson was on the mound for Cairn, giving up 8 runs on 12 hits.
The Aggies scored quickly, piling on five runs in the bottom of the first in an inning that saw three different players hit homeruns for the hosts. Three more runs came in the second inning before the rest of the game was played scoreless.
In the nightcap, the Aggies were once again on the board early and often.
In the first, Delaware Valley used another homer to take a 3-0 lead. They followed that inning up with a four-run second. The score was 7-0 before the third inning, where the Aggies added three more runs to round out their scoring.
Cairn prevented another shutout when they notched a solo run in the top of the fourth inning.

Kristen Hubler knocked in Hendrickson for the Highlanders only run of the day, but spoiled Whitney's second shutout bid.

Jessica Good and Hendrickson split pitching duties in the second contest, each going 2.0 innings.
The Highlanders finish the 2013 season with a 6-31 record, one win better than last year.
Kelly Hendrickson wrapped up the season batting above .400, leading the team with 41 hits. She also earned 4 wins on the season, taking her career total to 8. Brigid Shehan was also impressive at the plate, batting .396 and hitting the teams only homerun. She led the team in slugging percentage at .560 and RBIs with 28. Kristen Hubler went .289 at the plate and was 2nd on the team with 17 RBIs. Freshman Jessica Good earned her first two career wins as a pitcher this season and finished tied for third on the team with 28 hits.
