Highlanders Stuck in Season Openers

North Myrtle Beach, SC - Cairn University's softball team is competing in the National Collegiate Sports Invitational in South Carolina this week to start their season.

In their first game of the season, the Highlanders fell 15-1 to Spalding University. Jessica Good made her collegiate debut on the mound for the Highlanders, pitching a complete game.

Good also scored Cairn's only run of the contest in the top of the top of the first inning. Kristen Hubler got credit for the RBI, the first for her career.

In the follow up game, Kelly Hendrickson also finished a complete game for the Highlanders in a 15-0 loss to Eureka College. Despite giving up 15 runs, Hendrickson finished with an ERA of 1.80 since only one of those 15 runs was earned. Eureka held the Highlanders to a no-hitter.
