Highlanders Drops CSAC Contest to Gwynedd-Mercy

Langhorne, PA - Kyle Bonner had a career game in an 87-53 defeat to the Griffins of Gwynedd-Mercy on Saturday afternoon.

Bonner paced the Highlanders with career-best in points (17) and rebounds (8). Alec Alec Filippini, Chase Brunner, and Charles Hopkins each finished with 7 points. Reuben Lacy and Barron Lacy each grabbed 5 rebounds, falling short of only Bonner's game-high 8.

Tyler Barnes led the Griffins with 14 points followed by Frank Champion with 13. Colin Gates also reached doulbe figures with 10 points.

Cairn had an Assist/Turnover margin of (-20) that allowed Gwynedd-Mercy to eventually run away with the contest. In the first half, the Griffins shot an impressive 20 for 32 or 62.5% from the floor. The Highlanders, however, struggled to find any rythym going going 8 for 28 or 28.6%.

Cairn improved their second half field goal percentage significantly, shooting 54.2%, but were unable to get any closer to the much bigger Gwynedd-Mercy squad.

The loss puts the Highlanders at 1-19 overall and 0-14 in conference play with four more conference games and one more non-conference.

On Monday night, Cairn will host conference leaders Cabrini College at 7pm in the Mason Activity Center.
