Cairn Drops Season Series to Gwynedd Mercy

Box Score Langhorne, PA - The Highlanders' offense was working just fine on Saturday afternoon, but unfortunately for Cairn so was the Griffins', in a 98-79 conference loss.

Box Score

It was the second meeting between the two teams in two weeks, with Gwynedd Mercy winning the first fixture 97-63.

Cairn had two four players reach double figures, with Darnell Clowney and Justin Lewis combining for 42 points on the night. Gwynedd's Justin Knight had the game-high with 23 points.

Both teams shot well on the night, shooting above 50%, but the tipping point was the trips to the free-throw line. In that category, the Griffins went 29-for-32 compared to Cairn's 12-for-14. If you cancel out the difference in free-throws, it becomes a four point game.

In 37 minutes of action. Clowney finished with a team-high 22 points, gooing 9-of-14 from the floor. It also marks a new career mark for the transfer. Lewis made 3-of-6 from downtown, helping himself to 20 points on the night. JD Zamroz and Omar Askia also finished in double-digits, with 12 and 11 points respectively.

Cairn remains winless on the season at 0-7, 0-4 CSAC, but continue to be much more competitive than in previous campaigns.

The Highlanders have three weeks off before they return to the court, where they will take part in the Washington & Lee Tournament on December 29 & 30. Cairn will take on host Washington & Lee University in the first round before determining their next opponent.
