Cairn Hamstrung by Slow Start, Falling 78-66 to Immaculata

Box Score Immaculata, PA - The Cairn men's basketball team got off to an extremely slow start on Wednesday night, falling behind 22-4 early in the game before playing their conference rivals Immaculata University even for the remaining 28 minutes of the game.

Box Score

When you exclude the opening eight minutes, the Highlanders actually held a 62-56 advantage over the Mighty Macs, but unfortunately for Cairn the game is 40 minutes.

Diaper-dandy Tyler Lee continues to impress in the early going of his career, leading the Cairn offense with game and career-high 22 points in 31 minutes of action.

Azariah Parmer also came off the bench to drop 10 points for Cairn, setting a new personal mark for the freshman.

As a team, the Highlanders made ten three-pointers, shooting 41.7% from beyond the arc.

On defense, Cairn's aggressiveness forced 17 Mighty Mac turnovers (ten more than Cairn committed), but Immaculata dominated the paint outrebounding the Highlanders 47-22.

On the tail of their 22-4 run to start the game, Immaculata withstood a Cairn fightback, taking just a seven-point lead into the break, leading 37-30.

The second half saw the two teams basically trade baskets for 20 minutes, not allowing the boys in Crimson to close the gap as the host claimed a 78-66 victory.

The loss keeps Cairn winless in the early part of the season, 0-6 overall and 0-3 in CSAC play.

The Highlanders will host CSAC powerhouse Gwynedd Mercy University this Saturday at 4pm.
