Midway through the 1st half, the Highlanders only trailed 17-14, but over the next 6 minutes and 23 second, Marywood went on a 17-0 run that opened up a 34-14 score and wrestled control of the game. Marywood took a 45-21 lead into the break.
Unlike the first half, the second half was void of any large runs by either team, with Cairn holding a slight 35-34 advantage in the final twenty minutes. With the two teams playing equal in the second stanza, Marywood were able to maintain the status quo and earn a 75-60 win in the Colonial States Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Omar Askia went 6-for-11 to collect a team-high 15 points for Cairn.
JD Zamroz made three 3-pointers on his way to 14 points.
Darnell Clowney shot an impressive 71.4% for 12 points.
Shane Kellaher had a game-high 20 points for Marywood.
Cairn is now 0-5 on the season and 0-1 in league play.
