Box Score Gwynedd Valley, PA - It was the Colonial States Athletics Conference opener for both Cairn University and Gwynedd Mercy University, as both teams looked to get their conference schedules out of the blocks with a win.

The Griffins came out flying on offense in the opening half, shooting 66.7% from the field, including 8-of-11 three-pointers, to jump out to a large 63-25 halftime lead.

On the other side of the ball, there was sharp contrast in Cairn's shooting from the first to the second half. The Highlanders only made nine-of-35 attempts in the first half (25.7%), but that percentage jumped to 43.8% in the final 20 minutes.
In fact, the men outscored the CSAC powerhouse 38-34 in the second staza. But the damage had been done in the first as Gwynedd Mercy ran out 97-63 winners.

The Highlanders had four different players finish in double-digitis, with freshman Justin Lewis tallying a team-high 11 points. Obed Rivera, Darnell Clowney, and Omar Askia each recorded 10 points. Clownery and Askia both shot 50% or better from the floor. Dustin Vitale and Azariah Parmer had five rebounds each.

With the loss, Cairn slips to 0-4. Despite their current record, the Highlanders are well ahead of where they were at this stage last season.

The Griffins are now 3-2 on the season.

The Highlanders will play host to the Pacers of Marywood in just under a weeks time.
