Women's Soccer Earns 2-2 Draw with Immaculata

Box Score Langhorne, PA - The women's soccer team snapped a two-game losing streak to the Mighty Macs of Immaculata University by fighting to a 2-2 draw on Saturday afternoon. Two goals from senior midfielder Kathleen Meacham helped the Highlanders come from behind twice in the match.

In the early stages of the game, it was all Immaculata as the Macs piled on the pressure with a number of shots in quick succession. That pressure finally paid off in hte 10th minute of play when Rachel Gannon scored her 7th goal of the season.

Cairn clawed their way back into the game in the 24th minute after Caitlin Williams and Alyssa Leister worked to free Meacham on a breakaway, which the senior coolly dispatched into the back of the net, tying the game at 1-1.

Nine minutes before halftime though, the Lady Highlanders found themselves behind again. Carly Mirarchi scored from the left-hand side at the 35:53 mark to put Immaculata up 2-1 going into the break.

In the second half, with the Highlanders trailing again, it was once again Meacham that evened things up. This time it was defender Chelsea Miller sending Meacham in on goal for another breakaway, where the captain notched her second goal of the game.

Both teams would endure another 27 minutes of regulation and two ten-minute overtime periods without budging, resulting in a 2-2 final.

The goals for Meacham were her 3rd and 4th of the season. The assists from Miller and Williams were season and career firsts for both players. Leister's assist was her team-leading third of the season.

Naomi Collipp made eight saves on the day.

Cairn is now 3-6-2 on the season and 1-3-2 in CSAC play.

This Tuesday, at 4pm, the ladies will host non-conference DeSales University. The Bulldogs handed the women's soccer team their worst defeat last season, 8-0.
