Box Score
Despite being outshot 11-2 in the first half, it was the Highlanders that got on the board in the opening stanza. Senior Kathleen Meacham took a through ball from fellow senior Sara Poole and slotted her ball into the right hand corner to give Cairn a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute. It was Meacham's 7th goal of the season.
The Highlanders were able to take their 1-0 lead into the break and could focus their attention in the second half on defending their lead.
Cairn's defense was suffocating in the second stanza, limiting the Chargers attack to just four shots. In fact, it was the Highlanders who generated the better attack in the final 45 minutes.
With LBC pushing bodies forward in search of the tying goal, Cairn was able to find gaps on the counter-attack. That is when the Amara Mills show started.
In the 82nd minute, Laurisa Wager and Mills connected on a free-kick for the second time in as many games, putting the Highlanders up 2-0.
At the 86:04 mark, freshman Alicia Curry picked out Mills at the back post for an easy header and her first assist of the season. But Mills wasn't done. Less than a minute remained on the clock when she collected a loose ball in Lancaster's half and completed her hat-trick with a chip over the LBC goalkeeper, putting an exclamation mark on Cairn's 4-0 win.
The victory not only sends the women's soccer program back to the NCCAA tournament for the first time since 2007 when they lost in the championship game, but it also avenges a 6-0 loss at the hands of Lancaster Bible early in the season.
Cairn is now 7-10-1 on the season and will represent the East Region in Florida in two weeks time.
