Box Score
The visitors seemed to have the better of the chances in the first stanza, outshooting Cairn 10-4 to start the game. It was the Highlanders though that got on the board first. Notre Dame's goalkeeper, Heather Lancelotti, was unable to get to
Amara Mills cross into the box and Wiliams was able to notch her first-career goal in the 32nd minute of the game.
It took only seven minutes for Notre Dame to respond, though. In the 39th minute, Lauren Santi got just enough on her shot to chip Cairn's
Naomi Collipp in goal, as the ball came under the crossbar and knotting the score at 1-1.
In the second half, Cairn came out with more iniative, taking the game to the Gators in the early stages, and held a 12-4 advantage in shots in the final 45 minutes.
But after 83 minutes played, the score remained 1-1. That is until a rookie combination of Williams and
Alicia Curry unlocked the Gators defense. Curry picked the ball up on the left side of the field and played a one-two passing move with Williams, putting Curry in on goal one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Curry put her shot just underneath the crossbar for the eventual game-winner.
Cairn held on for the 2-1 win.
Collipp made four saves in the win. She has made 104 saves for the year and has a 4-7-2 record in net.
Curry's goal was her 4th of the campaign.
The ladies are now 5-10-2 on the year and 2-6-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
On Thursday, the Highlanders will host Baptist Bible College in the NCCAA East Regional Semifinal. Caien is the #2 seed, with BBC as the #3 seed. Cairn defeated BBC 2-1 back on October 2 in Clarks Summit, PA. Curry and
Laurisa Wager tallied the goals for the Highlanders. Wager took a remarkable 15 shots in that game.
