Women's Soccer Defeat Baptist Bible

Clarks Summit, PA - With less than two mintues to play, Cairn's Alicia Curry notched the game-winner for the Highlanders' women's soccer team against long-time rivals Baptist Bible College, 2-1.

Cairn originally took the lead in the in the 66th minute through Laurisa Wager, assisted from senior Amara Mills. Wager unleashed a remarkable 15 shots on the day, outshooting the Defenders on her own. It was her team leading fifth goal of the season.

Things were all even at 1-1 though in the 77th mintue when Makenzi Kaiser netted from a Katie Krewson feed.

Despite outshooting Baptist Bible 35-7 on the day, the ladies were in danger of having to settle for extra time and potentially a tie before Curry's game-winner at the 88:13 mark. It was Curry's 3rd career goal, and 2nd game-winner of the season.

Naomi Collipp made 4 saves in goal for Cairn to secure the win. Katelynn King made 13 saves in net for the Defenders.

Barring an upset against Valley Forge Christian College in two weeks time, Cairn will lock up the 2nd seed for the NCCAA East Region tournament, which will give the Highlanders home-field advantage for the semifinal round.

The ladies improve to 3-6-1, 1-3-1 CSAC.

Next up for the Lady Highlanders are the Mighty Macs of Immaculata this Saturday, October 5, at 2pm, taking place during the Centennial celebrations for Cairn University's 100th year.
