Box Score

In a crucial Colonial States Athletic Conference showdown, the Defenders were the team that came out with more energy and fight, taking the game to the Highlanders, and they didn't have to wait long for it to pay off. Baptist jumped ahead in just the 7th minute, 1-0, with their first shot of the game. After an initial pass into the box was deflected,BBC's Kyle Brassard found himself in acres of space and calmly slotted the ball home.

The first half eventually evened out with the teams going back-and-forth with Cairn holding a 5-3 advantage in shots, but Baptist took a deserved lead into the break.

Cairn came out with an intensity that was sorely lacking in the first stanza, as the Highlanders took the game to Baptist. With the run of play all in favor of Cairn, waves of whites shirts applied constant pressure for 45 minutes. The Highlanders eventually outshot the Defenders by nearly double, 11-6, for the game, but were unable to find the all important tying goal.

In the 84th minute, Cairn did break down the BBC defense as sophomore Ahron Park raced past three BBC defenders and was bearing down on the Defenders goal with only the goalkeeper to beat when Park was fouled from behind by BBC's Nathan Miller. The foul was inches away from being ruled a penalty-kick, but in the end Miller was award his 2nd yellow card of the game and the Highlanders hit their free-kick into the wall.

Cairn falls to 7-7, 2-4 CSAC. Baptist is now 5-10-1, 3-3-1 CSAC.
