Gwynedd Valley, PA - The Griffins of Gwynedd-Mercy College proved to be too much for the Highlanders of Cairn University to handle.

The Griffins were better in almost every category as Gwynedd-Mercy ran away with an 84-45 Colonial States Athletic Conference win. The Griffens were paced by a quartet of players finishing with 10 points. Justin Knight, Larry Jones III, Brian Hennessey, and Shawn Wilson each tallying 10 points as 13 different players recorded points for GMC. Aaron Stovall led the Highlanders with a game-high 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting.Reuben Lacy and Barron Lacy each tallied 9 points.

Despite the lopsided scoreline, the Highlanders didn't necessarily have a poor shooting night. Instead, they simply struggled to get shots in general. With 23 turnovers, which led to 27 points for the Griffins, Cairn took nearly half the number of shots as GMC. When they did get a look at the basket, the Highlanders shot a decent 40% from the floor. GMC shot a slightly better 44%, but when you take 27 more shots than your opponent, you're always likely to win.

Gwynedd-Mercy jumped out to a quick 22-5 lead before Cairn started finding their shots, but still couldn't stop the Griffins from scoring. The Highlanders climbed back to a 12-point deficit, down only 37-25, before Gwynedd-Mercy closed out the first half on a 11-2 run to take a 48-27 halftime lead.

For ten minutes into the second half, the Griffins still held a slight advantage as the teams traded baskets. But with the score at 65-42, Gwynedd-Mercy made a 9-0 run stretching their lead into the 30's just before finishing the game 84-45.

After 7 conference games, the two teams find themselves at opposite ends of the standings table. Cairn is 0-7 while GMC is 7-0.
