Langhorne, Pa - Rosemont College did all of their scoring in a 14-minute span, but it was enough to beat the Highlanders 4-0.
The Raven's Lauren Whalen scored a hat trick, leading the way for Rosemont victory in a conference game. On the lone goal that Whalen didn't score, she assisted Jen South.
Despite the 4-0 score line, it took Rosemont nearly 42 minutes to score. But once they started, they couldn't be stopped. Whalen scored her first at the 41:21 mark, just before halftime, giving the Ravens a 1-0 lead at the break. It took only 17 seconds into the second half to score her 2nd goal of the game. Whalen had put Rosemont up 2-0 before the crowd even had time to find their places on the bleachers for the start of the second half. About 90 second sl ater, Whalen was at it again, this time setting up teammates Jen South, giving Rosemont a 3-0 lead. In the 56th minute, Whalen scored her third and final goal of the game, securing a 4-0 win for the Ravens. From the time of the first goal to the fourth goal, only 14 minutes and 7 seconds had come off the game clock.
Following the goals, Cairn did seem to come to life, nearly matching Rosemont's shots for the second period. Overall, Rosemont held a 21-11 advantage in shots, with 8 of Cairn's shots coming in the second half. Seven of those came after the 4th goal was scored.
Morgan Swan helped keep the score line respectable with 13 saves in net.
Cairn slips to 1-7 on the season and will look to rebound against long-time rivals Baptist Bible on Saturday. Kick-off is scheduled for 12pm. That game will be the first of a doubleheader with the men's soccer team.
