Women's Soccer Gets First Goals and Win against Keystone

Freshman Morgan Swan Earns 1st-Career Win
Langhorne, Pa - Cairn University's women's soccer team earned their first win of the season on Saturday, defeating conference rivals Keystone College, 2-1.

Box Score

Senior Sara Poole scored her first career collegiate goal, and it came at just the right time. Poole's 40-yard blast came early in the second half in the 53rd minute and proved to be the game-winner.

Keystone's Kimberly Gee scored in the 18th minute to give the visitors a 1-0 lead, but it would last only a minute. Less than a minute later, the Highlanders had scored their first goal of the season and tied the game a 1-1. Junior Kathleen Meacham played a cross towards the top of the box where freshman Laurisa Wager was on hand to one-time her shot into the top corner, leaving the Giants goalkeeper with no chance.

Morgan Swan made her first start in goal for the Highlanders and lasted the full 90 minutes, earning her first win of her young career. Swan had an impressive 12 save performance, several from close range.

Chelsea Troyer led the Highlanders with 5 shots. Olivia Kahuba and Samantha Littleford each registered 6 shots for the Giants.

Cairn improves to 1-5 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.
