Camden, NJ - Philadelphia Biblical University fell to a couple of Rutgers-Camden surges late in both games in their doubleheader on Thursday.
In game one of the doubleheader, the Crimson Eagles were within reach of the Scarlett Raptors until the bottom of the 6th when Rutgers-Camden put together 4 runs and finished the game off 9-1.
Kim Martin (Lititz, PA / Warwick) and
Emily Cronin (Franklinville, NY / New Life Christian) each went 2-for-3.
Emily Laudenslager (Allentown, PA / Parkland) went 1-for-2 with an RBI, knocking in Kim Martin for PBU's only score in the top of the 4th inning.
The Crimson Eagles were shutout in the nightcap, 5-0. Yet again, finishing back-to-back complete games on the same day,
Kelly Hendrickson (Southampton, PA / William Tennet) got stronger as the day moved along. In game two, Hendrickson only gave up 5 hits and only 2 earned runs.
After three innings, PBU only trailed 1-0 before a 3-run bottom of the 4th for the host to create a 4-0 gap. Rutgers-Camden would tack on one more run the next inning, completing the 5-0 score line.
Emily Cronin, Emily Laudenslager,
Sara Poole (Edison, NJ / Timothy Christian), and
Ashley Mitchell (Fairless Hills, PA / Pennsbury) recorded a hit apiece for the Crimson Eagles.
PBU will return to conference play this weekend when they play Neumann University in a doubleheader on Saturday.
PBU's record falls to 5-27.
