Langhorne, PA - Eastern University scored in every inning but one in a doubleheader with the Crimson Eagles and proved too much to handle for PBU.
The Eagles of Eastern ran up 19 runs over the course of the first 7 innings while Eastern pitcher Janelle Fair pitched a complete game, walking only one while striking out 6. The Crimson Eagles failed to produce a hit in game 1 while the Eagles recorded 23.
With a shortage in the bullpen at the moment, PBU's
Kelly Hendrickson (Southampton, PA / William Tennent) was forced to pull double duty and pitch both games on the day.
Hendrickson faired slightly better in the second outing. In game 2, she only gave up half the number of hits than in game 1. Although Eastern tacked on another 12 runs in game 2, only 3 were earned runs.
Emily Cronin (Franklineville, NY / New Life Christian) notched PBU's only hit of the day with a single in the bottom of the 2nd inning of game 2. Cronin reached 2nd base following
Emily Laudenslager's (Allentown, PA / Parkland) ground out to the third baseman, but that was as close as the Crimson Eagles would come to scoring. Cronin was picked off on her way to third one batter later.
PBU returns to conference play this Friday against Notre Dame (MD) with a doubleheader in Maryland.
With this loss, PBU falls to 1-11. Eastern improves to 12-7.
